International Seminar on Language Teaching 2015, Contextual Diversity in Language Teaching and Learning
« Назад International Seminar on Language Teaching 2015: Contextual Diversity in Language Teaching and Learning Pusat Citra Universiti (Citra UKM) February 4, 2015 – February 5, 2015 Globalisation in education has brought about a significant impact on language teaching and learning around the world given the wide variety of learners' backgrounds, expectations and attributes. Language teaching and learning, particularly at universities, is now challenged with the rising concerns on the need to consider the contextual diversity within current scenario in education. In Malaysia, the national educational policies have made contextual diversity prominent with the increasing intake of international post-doctoral graduates who have to pass the national language. Language teaching at local universities is also challenged to raise the level of language proficiency amongst undergraduates for the academic and workplace settings. There are also developments in higher education now where Internet and technology have forced institutions to rethink new ways to teach, learn and do research to address these variables. The Language Proficiency Unit of Pusat Citra Universiti (Citra UKM) at The National University of Malaysia (UKM) is providing access to rich ideas on the excellence of teaching language proficiency amongst language practitioners at tertiary level via its inaugural seminar for language teaching and learning. The seminar, ‘Contextual Diversity in Language Teaching and Learning’ hopes to bring together language instructors, academics, researchers, scholars and students with interest areas in language proficiency teaching and learning to address these issues of concern. The objectives of the seminar are: * to provide a platform for the exchange of ideas, insights, research findings and expertise amongst language practitioners, academics, students and other interested parties. * to provide a forum for language practitioners, academics, students and other interested parties to discuss issues in the development of language skills among language learners. * to discuss new developments in teaching practices. * to promote research related to the field of language teaching and learning.
